MEET THE NOTTINGHAM BASED MULT-GENRE EVENT MASHING UP THE DANCE - RELOADED
Reloaded have been banging out lively nights in Nottingham since September 2017 and they are certainly not slowing down. 2/4 of the management team, Rame and StormGG, caught up with us about their night and why you should be attending them.
StormGG explained how the night all began: “I had the thought of wanting to run my own night for ages but just never really had the resources or know how on what to do. Then randomly one day my good mate Dominik approached me on starting a night together, we thought about the name for ages and soon as ‘Reloaded’ was said, it clicked and we ran with it.
“After our first event at Red Bar in Nottingham, Dom had to move to Manchester for uni so we made the decision to bring in our new head honcho, Rame, and I can safely say we wouldn’t be where we are today without him. Big up Dominik though, the seed would’ve never been planted without him approaching me so I can only thank him for that.”
The motive for the night began after the lack of opportunity so showcase local talent in Nottingham, StormGG said: “At the time there was a huge lack of events that were giving us local DJs a chance to shine. So it just seemed appropriate at the time to try and get our foot in the door somewhere, to give people a place to come rave with all the sick DJs we knew.
"To be honest, I never thought it would have grown into something so special to us. I’ve always said, as long as the people who come to our events enjoy themselves that’s all that matters to me and it seems like they’re still enjoying them, so we must be doing something right.”
Back in September 2017, their first night offered Nottingham bassline donny Baggy T and a roster of local selectors, StormGG told us how it went for their first night: “As far as first events go it was actually a sick turnout. We had about 70-80 heads in there at one stage all going mad, it was a bit overwhelming to be fair because we never expected that.
“The rest of the DJs on the lineup were all local DJs who were absolutely sick and I can’t thank everyone enough for putting faith into the night, we’ve worked so much to get where it is today, including all our residents.”
WITH THE CURRENT SURGE OF THE NEWER/UP AND COMING DJS, PRODUCERS, MCS, LABELS, EVENT NIGHTS, SINGERS AND MORE, THE 140 SCENE CAN ONLY KEEP GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
Rame went onto talk about their residents: “Our resident DJs are StormGG, Plattsy, Chatta, Rome, Dima, Rubz & Zonal. Genre wise it varies between grime, bassline, bass, house, UKG, funky and drum & bass.”
As well as managing Reloaded, Rame also runs the 140 based music label East Mids Repper, he explained the appeal 140 has to an audience: “The appeal is huge mainly due to the current development in each genre across whatever you would class as 140. I've been involved with music for over ten years now and with the current surge of the newer/up & coming DJs, producers, MCs, labels, event nights, singers & more, the 140 scene can only keep going from strength to strength.”
For those who would like to know what to expect from a Reloaded event, StormGG put it in his own words: “Whether it be any genre, the place is always bouncing, you can expect there to be a constant supply of absolute bangers throughout the night.”
Their craziest night dates back to April, with one of their biggest line ups to date: “Equally, every event we have put on so far has been sick but our Easter event back in April was crazy. We had Palizé B2B J69 headlining along with Arc Nade, FOZO, Poach & StormGG B2B Plattsy on the line up.”
September sees a rather wonky night ahead, with bassline legend DJ EJ and Off Me Nut badmen Blitz and Vens on the cards, StormGG told us what’s in store for the rest of the year: “We’ve got our 1st birthday event coming up on the 21st September with DJ EJ headlining, a proper legend in the bassline scene. Were expecting it to be a full sell out so it’ll be an absolute madness. We’ve got a few more bits planned for the year heading to NYE but I can’t say much on the matter yet, top secret business!”
